Importing Outlook Contacts into Gmail using a .csv file

When importing contacts into gmail from a .csv file make sure the email address field is labeled ‘E-Mail Address‘ (ignore the quotes). Outlook may export the csv and label the email address field ‘EmailAddress‘. This will not import. Gmail will not give you an error during the import.

UPDATEOutlook 2007 exports the .csv with the incorrect email field (‘EmailAddress’), Outlook 2010 exports the .csv in the format gmail likes (‘E-mail Address’).

Also delete the Anniversary field from the .csv file, and any other field you do not plan to use. When I tried importing contacts, the year 4501 was inserted into each contact for their anniversary.

Please give Beverly a huge hug from my daughter Elizabeth Laughlin (used to be Crawley) and myself. We worked at the CSC and have such fond memories of her.
