09/04/05 I need to go shopping today. Out of laundry detergant and Roundup 09/03/05 Vaccuumed this morning. Also washed the dishes and laundry. all before 10am. woah. 09/02/05 Yesterday, every gas station I saw was out of fuel, except for 1, I think. Do you have gas? 09/01/05 While filling up my tank yesterday evening, the lady behind me already had nearly a full tank. Her mom told her to take the car to the station to "top it off". It took at least a half hour to get gas. The main reason it was slow, is that I noticed everyone trying to get every last drop in. Gas was 2.99

They responded the same day with return info. rock on. 08/27/05 Cyndi's nifty inspiron 1200 laptop arrives. :) The kensington cordless mouse does not work :/ .... yes I tried different batteries, yes they are in right. ..... basically all you can do is scroll, and right click. 08/26/05 Remind me to vacuum and clean my car this weekend. 08/25/05 School starts today, so I have to leave earlier. 08/24/05 Ordered a laptop for my sister. Should arrive the 31st. Instead of buying a new toothbrush, I am using a free one that I get each time I visit the dentist. Too bad you can't get a free laptop, if you have no cavities. 08/23/05 Remind me to order a laptop for my sister. I think its time for a new toothbrush. 08/22/05 A few weeks ago I recycled 2 old phone books. This weekend I received two new ones.... ....coincidence? I am talking about the small boxes that Hotels use. The milk containers open ok. 08/01/05 Welcome to August. Still not home. Should be home tomorrow or Wednesday. - Hotel room is out of coffee this AM and I got 1 cup before they ran out downstairs. Fortunately the food is great.

07/31/05 Another sunny day in Jacksonville. I have heard that it has been rainy all weekend in Charlotte. 07/30/05 In Jacksonville for a few days. Nice hotel with gym, pool, hottub, and internet. will try to remember updates. neck no longer sore. thanks to above amenities. 07/29/05 Drove to Jacksonville Florida in a rental. The Kia Sedona gave me a stiff neck. ow. Must have not properly adjusted the seat. ...the ride is smooth. 07/28/05 is you life simple or complex? what should it be. When paying my bill, the manager asked me if I had been playing golf (I had a golf shirt on) I said no, I have been here. Then he gave me a survey to fill out. Afternoon showers. 04/30/05 (last night) Went to my first concert at Verizon. Stephen Curtis Champan. The concert rocked. Concerts have a way of doing that. I guess thats why they call them rock concerts. Another quiet saturday morning. Todays word is rose. 04/29/05 It's getting to the point where I dont need to wear a jacket to work. but I will keep one in the car. Sometimes I just stare at the monitor. Then I save the file, and use an FTP program to upload it to my internet site. 03-31-05 No speeding ticket yesterday. Today's word is figures. My new shoes are very squeaky. ...figures. 03.30.05 I had a dream I had a speeding ticket, So I'll drive slow today. Saturday I bought new sneakers and shoes at Target. 03/27/05 Easter Sorry I was busy at Church and then visiting my brother and family. Yesterday I saw a 2 year old make a dash for a playground. unfortunately for that 2 year old to get there, the kid had cross Harrisburg road. I had already driven past the kid as she darted into the road. The pickup truck behind me stopped, and her mom did catch her in time. 03/12/05 I need to clean out the garage. I saw a car almost pull in front of a car going 45 on Albermarle Road (abouta mile east of Harris) Later there was a fender bender on Plaza near Eastway. I rarely use stamps anymore. I have used 4 this month, - which is alot. New coffee maker rules. This one will not spit out coffee, unless it's carafe and carafe cap are in place. 06/30/04 05:27am Yesterday on the way to work, I had to wait behind a transit bus. It's a 4 lane road (you know, 2 in each direction) so I just wait till most of the insanely fast people have gone by before pulling out. (Why are so many people in a hurry to get to work, especially now, with the hidden speed trap cameras?) One utility truck pulled out rather slow, and was nearly rear ended by a pickup going well over the speed limit. The reason I write all this is if they did collide, it would have been right in front of me - They didnt. The smell of burnt rubber lasted for half a mile. If you are ever chatting on the net, and a lady sends her pic, the worst thing you can do, is not react. It freaks them out. Even if they do look like an actress....(Which actress I do not know, I don't watch many movies) Shsia's journal has still not been updated. I suppose I should not pick on her, as I am still low on BC's and Tissues. 06/29/04 05:50am Mowed the lawn last night. No signs of any yellow jackets. Mushrooms dotted the front lawn. 03/31/04 05:46am I finally cleaned up the spilled quarters from the back seat of my car. (see jan 12th) Probably should use them on a down payment on a new coffee maker. The UPS allowed me to shut down the PC's I then shut down the UPS to save the battery, incase I needed it to make coffee in the morning. 03/06/04 Spent last night and this morning reloading software and copying files to the new PC. My nephew David's birthday party is today. In lieu of buying him a present, am giving him my 19" color TV set I never use. as you all gasp this tv was bought in 1987. its a Zenith - should have another 10 years left... is "in lieu" proper english? it sounds cool... maybe I should have used instead instead.... so far only 1 daffodill is growing :\ 03/05/04 Thanks to all for the reminders. A few days ago there was over a foot of snow in the ground, now its all gone and the temps are in the 70's The lawn is mushy. Forgot to give my parents the Windows XP cd and code when I built a PC for them this fall. Fortunately I found the CD and wrote down the product code. I have to wait for the left sides fluid to make its way over. The snow should finish melting today. My coffee maker is almost 7 years old. I think its time to retire it. I know how old it is, because I bought it a few months after moving to North carolina. 02/29/04 I retired my squeaky chair. I now have peanuts and kleenex, but now I am low on bird food. I could not find bird food at the new Lowes store in Harrisburg. Card is still paid off! Had to wash the mud off the car, from when I was stuck in the snow on Friday. Lots of snow still on the ground, even though it was 60. 02/28/04 My computer chair squeaks. Could not get pilot to work on fireplace. Low on Kleenex, out of peanuts. Paid off my credit card balance. Now, lets see how many days, weeks, or even months I can go with it paid off each month. 02/27/04 Tried to go to work, but the road was blocked by a car that could not climb a hill. He needed a shovel to get out. Then another car got stuck. I decided to go back. (I forgot to bring a shovel) Then my car got stuck in my driveway. My guess is 15 inches of snow fell. 02/26/04 A few inches of snow fell today. Check the house page for pics. My commute home: I saw one snow related accident, caused by stupidity. Traffic was slow, someone got fed up and used the opposite lane to drive half a block to make a left turn. They met up with a taxi. Saw a few cars that had skidded off the road. Evening snowstorm brings an additional 4 inches of snow and sleet. And this is also a thunderstorm... Mechanic said I needed a new rotor for the front right tire. It can wait till I get new brakes which are at 50%. I remembered to buy coffee, but forgot the dixie cups. As a backup plan, I can use the larger paper cups from the kitchen. Finally got the laudry under control. I may put a clock in the laundry room to test my theory of a time warp. 02/13/04 Friday Lanudry has been accumulating at a faster rate than normal. I am wondering if my laundry room exists in a space/time votrex or wormhole. (correction - vortex - thanks Shsia) for those keeping score, I forgot to buy dixie cups. but I did get more toothpaste. 02/12/04 There was a potential for snow, sleet, ice.... but it just rained alot. I keep forgetting to buy dixie cups for the bathroom. Time for a haircut, and oil change too. 02/11/04 I had the 2nd half of the pizza for breakfast. This is the first breakfast for me all year. Upgraded AOL instant messenger. 02/10/04 The highlight of today was updating my PC's and rebooting them. I bought the deep dish pizza special at Pizzeria Uno It was so much, I only ate half. I wonder if the other half will survive 1 day in the fridge at work. I shortened my walks at the gym to 30 min, at 3.7 mph. The light at I485 and I49 is not very friendly to people trying to exit I485. I was there probably 5 minutes. 02/09/04 Forgot to update the journal yesterday. Friday's dog incident was inside of a mall - sorry to confuse. Today was just your typical blah monday. Maybe Monday should be called Blahday. 02/08/04 My garage door opener did not work. The sensor was disrupted by a spider. I reloacted the spider and it worked ok. After doing my taxes I realized that it was time to purge documents. I throw things in a drawer and sort them later. Sort is more like toss 90% of it. I am far from a pack rat - I purge everything I dont need. 02/07/04 Taxes!!!! Only problem I had doing my taxes was I could not find my property tax bill. Fortunately I had a note in my Journal this past August 30th, the day I paid it online. I checked my email archive for that day. Sure enough there was the email confirmation with what I paid. Thank you Journal! I will probably save my refund. I know thats boring, but this year I want to try to actually follow a budget... Something I never have done. 02/06/04 While getting lunch at the overstreet mall, I saw a large dog take a large dump. The commute home had a rare traffic jam. There was no accident. Heavy rains had flooded the right lane on The Plaza. I thought the heavy rain might wash away some of the dirt that has lived on my car the past two weeks. But upon arriving home, I noticed that the dirt refused to relinquish its grip. 02/05/04 I forgot to update the journal today. Back at the gym, my feet hurt, so I only walked for 30 minutes. 02/04/04 Back in Charlotte. Tonight is garbage night. I decided to clean out my freezer. 2 - 6 month old cheesecakes 2 banannas (why, I do not know...) Assorted breads and bagels, ages unknown. Ham - from Thanksgiving I think... a green dessert from thanksgiving, no idea what it was. Leftovers in a cheap plastic container that I was afraid to open. 02/03/04 The hotel was near a restaurant that brews it own beer, good beer. and the bartender lets you try stuff for free in small glasses. Needless to say when I left I had no bills in my wallet. Walking back to the hotel, a bum asked me for change - 60 cents. All I had, was 60 cents, and I gave it to him. He offered me pizza but I declined. 02/02/04 Business trip to Jacksonville. Stayed at a hotel north of Jacksonville Beach, with an ocean view. Two women from work took me to dinner. 02/01/04 Tried to use a nearby gas station car wash, but it was out of order. My 3$ ticket is still good till Feb 8th. While I am too lazy to wash my car, I did vaccuum. You know your house is dirty when you need to vaccuum tile floors. Visited Tom's house and helped with renovations. Put off doing taxes till next weekend. FYI the next journal update will be either the 3rd or 4th.

01/31/04 I need new glasses. Current glasses are 4 years old. 01/30/04 My storm water bill arrived today. 19.01 The car's odometer reaches interesting binary numbers, like 100011, 100100, 100111 Not sure what foods to buy, now that Im off the diet. I put off applying my registration sticker on the car licence plate, because it was cold out this week.... what a wimp i have become. I should try to get a pic of the car before I take it to the car wash. 01/29/04 Peak fitness is going through renovations. The scale was not accessible. At least 3 people said that I have lost enough weight. So I'll stop posting it here. I'll just try to remain around 170 and see how long that lasts.... The main thing that I learned is, if you want to lose weight - go to the gym. 01/28/04 Today the "special event" described a few days ago happened. My car reached 100,000 miles. most of the snow has melted and the roads are once again clear. Finally got back to the gym. Work scale 174 Gym scale 172. 01/27/04 Today's commute to work was icy on Harrisburg road. But after that the roads were clear. Roads were clear on the commute home. Haven't been able to get to the gym this week. Work scale has me at 174. 01/26/04 No power loss. The drive to work was slow, but uneventful. The drive home - I saw a few accidents. Tomorrow's commute will probably be more icy. I leave early because there's less traffic. 01/25/04 First snow of the year. Also first sleet, and ice of the year too. I made tomorrow's coffee in case power goes out. Good day to spend inside, which I did. 01/24/04 Saturday workout - gym scale 173. increased speed of walk to 3.7 mph. Harrisburg road was most likely closed due to a head on collision. There was red paint on the road that indicated this. W2's arrived today 01/23/04 Work scale 175.5 gym scale 175.5 While driving home from the gym, I had to take a detour because Harrisburg road was closed. Later that evening I tried to go to the store from the other side and saw the extent of the roadblock, which appeared to be a half mile. No idea yet what happened. Have not actually set a goal of how much weight to lose. This is mainly because I am also weight lifting and that makes you gain weight. I have at least 5 lbs of fat to lose. why is pounds abbreviated lbs? For the 99th time, no before and after photos of my gut :P The biggest benefit of all this diet/exercise, is a healthier heart. In the past 3 weeks of exercise, I have not done 1 sit-up. Lost the outdoor garage lightbulb - but I was ready with a spare! I wonder if I should include "cliff-hangars" in the journal. Like this. "in the next few days - a special event will happen". stay tuned. 01/22/04 "The Hat" was actually won by my nephew David. Tonight I changed my house's air filter. I am down to only 1 spare. I wonder if dieting makes you forgetful. 01/18/04 Visited Eastside Community Church which is a few miles from me. I enjoyed the service and met a few people. Went to the gym and walked another 3 miles. Probably wont drop weight for a few days, since I did not follow the diet very well this weekend. Thursday I left my cell phone at work. Friday I brought the AC charger to work, since the cell was low. Then forgot to bring the charger home. What I currently do is walk 30 minutes, lift weights for a while, then walk another 30. 01/16/04 I keep forgetting to buy deoderant. no, I am not out yet... Tonight I went to the store and read labels. buying stuff that is very low on fat and carbs. Fortunately I can eat tuna right from the can. (that was lunch) For those who think thats gross, they now have chicken in tuna cans. (no it wasnt cat food...) Tried one tonight - very good. yes that was dinnner, along with pickles. I dont understand how pickles have 0 calories... Things I cut out. Bread and pasta, which used to be 90% of my diet.... Temporarily switching from Sunnyd to a vitamin C pill. Coffee black, no sugar. (I have my doubts about the entire subject) 2nd one was from Wisconsin. I think I either bored her or scared her away... 3rd one was from Iowa. Nice lady. 12/31/03 Actually new years resolutions should be done on New Years Day. So, you ask what about today's entry? Good question.... I will tell you a story. --------------------------------- Now that Garage Lightbulb is a star, many people are asking about its origins. here is "The E True Hollywood Story." GL's begining is actually unknown. The bulb came with the house. All the houses lightbulbs were new, except for the garage light. The dark complexion of the bulb has always been there. I replaced the bulb back in the spring of 2001, shortly after moving in, because it didn't shine very brightly. The replacement bulb didnt last too long and I had to put "GL" back in. I did not expect it to last long, GL surprised me, it did a great job for over 2 years. GL finally burned out its lumens, in the first week of August 2003. I was on the road. I probably left the light on. [insert 3 weeks of procrastination] When I did finally decide to change the bulb, on the 23rd, I decided to film it. The video uses the song "Limbo" from Brian Ferry. (Videos are located here) The bulb's manufacturer, is unclear. Here is what is written. (to even read the bulb, you need to shine a flashlight on it.) My maglite's still work. Today I learned that NFO stands for "No Fuss Otter" I also need stamps.... and spare lightbulbs. I keep forgetting to get a new battery for one of my two garage door openers. This year I will have spare coffee in the fridge, in case I lose power. 12/11/03 I need to get a new mouse. 12/10/03 I have put off a root canal on a tooth with an abcess. (The dentist talks fast, I have trouble understanding him) I was supposed to have it looked at 3 years ago. Since it doesnt hurt I have put it off. Maybe this year. 12/09/03 Lost the "over the stove" lightbulb this evening. I no longer have spare bulbs. Many people have been getting the Flu lately. Do you have the flu? Tommorrow I have a dentist appointment. 12/08/03 A dell laptop was accidentally delivered to the 12th floor. it was it was supposed to go to the 9th floor. ...which is the FBI. It's rather strange to carry a package to the FBI. I bought more fresh baked bagels and dijon mustard, (made with white wine) for some reason I am afraid to buy poupon mustard... 12/07/03 yep. 12/06/03 Had to replace the outdoor garage lightbulb. 12/05/03 i got nothin... 12/04/03 Finally got around up updating the journal. it's almost snowy weather. (is that a sentence) [According to Word, that one is, the first one is not] Maybe snow this weekend. I bought a new toothbrush, (oral b for those keeping score) noticed my garage door opener does not have the range it used to. probably should switch to the spare one, or um, get a new battery.. 12/03/03 Worked in Jacksonville and left for Charlotte around 5:30. I was actually south of the city in Orange Park. Got home sometime after midnight. 3rd day I did not update the journal. 12/02/03 Tuesday - 2nd day I forgot to update the journal. Before leaving on a road trip to Jacksonville, Fl. I returned the Lasagna Pan to Susan. Yes it is finally home. 12/01/03 Monday - First day I forgot to update the journal. This was the last full day the lasagna pan spent in my car.

11/30/03 I had to replace the 9 volt battery for the living room smoke alarm. This is on the vaulted ceiling and is the hardest to reach. I mopped the floors too. 11/29/03 11/28/03 I got my quarterly haircut. quiet day, otherwise.... I am thankful I didn't eat too much yesterday. oh, fyi - I now remember that on Wednesday I lost another Wal-Mart sock. always the big right toe... 11/27/03 Thanksgiving in Gastonia. I have alot to be thankful for. Especially a great family. 11/26/03 I attempted to return the Lasagna pan to Susan. But she was out of work,due to a broken toe. Her office is being moved so I didnt want it to get lost in the shuffle. So for now it will sit in the back seat of my car. 11/25/03 By popular demand, here is the lasagna pan Which, um, obviously I forgot to return... I'll try to remember tomorrow. 11/24/03 I need to return the lasagna pan to Susan. I washed the pan this weekend, after letting it sit in the sink since 11/06. I cleaned the sink tonight - it needed it. Today I ran out of mustard. I ran out of butter this weekend and decided to put mustard on the bagels. It was good. Yesterday when I mowed, I threw alot of the grass piles on the driveway. Some I took and threw on the backyard "mound". The rest I left on the driveway. I was updating the house page and saw that I had left photos in the camera from November 8th. I dont remember this cat's name, but I remember it was friendly. 11/21/03 Charlotte was dissappointed that I forgot to update the journal. no, not the entire city of Charlotte, Just a person who was named for the city I almost live in. Say-re was so happy to be mentioned a 2nd time in the journal, that she signed the guestbook. (under her new alias Shsia) I asked Tanya to say some words of wisdom for tonights entry, but she declined. Tanya also didn't notice that I misspelled disappointed. am I disappointed? no. I make so many gramatical errors that I think she just gives up trying to correct me. I did correct a glaring typo I made on 9/9 (expensie --> expensive) 11/20/03 I forgot to update the Journal today. But I remembered to buy Diet Coke. 11/19/03 In addition to lightbulbs, I need more kleenex. Its time for my quarterly haircut too.... I had neglected to mention that yesterday I replaced the lightbulb in the laundry room. (see 11/12) Sorry no video for this event. The previous day I had done the laundry in the dark. Today I paid my mortgage online. Tanya recently told me how surprised she was that my journal entries are longer than normal. I suppose that entries like the one on 10/20/03 are not very indicative of how my day went. 11/16/03 I have had alot of sinus headaches lately. 11/15/03 Remembered to update journal. Will try to be less lazy today. Took some pics for the house page but have not uploaded them yet. noticed alot of bird-do on the mailbox pole... what aim! no I didnt take a pic of that. 11/14/03 Forgot to update journal. Took a day off and was lazy. 11/13/03 Road Runner web site is still down. as a paying customer I am surprised at the lack of 1 single email from them concerning the outage. If they ever manage get the site back online, I will setup a mirror link on ipowerweb. During the 1 week outage I was able to update the site and put a link to the mirror... but their servers crashed again and my site was restored to the earlier date that didnt have the link. at least email works.... now if i could only get some. rather than turn the heat on this cold night, I just closed the door to the "cave" and let the monitors do the job. 11/12/03 Today I heard a new term. At lady at work went on maternaty leave early due to complications. The person who took her place told me she was "put to bed" 2 days in a row, while at the intersection of Graham and Sugar Creek, a firetruck whizzed by. Well, I guess they dont actually whizz by, but its been a long day and thats the best thing I can think up. Today was quite warm around 80. Tomorrow should be 60. The light went out in my laundry room a few days ago still havent replaced it. The bulb was an original. (its always sad to see an original house bulb go...) I should probably try to figure out what bulb that came with the house lasts the longest. Apparently Road Runner web site is still down. Their network status page never lifted the code red. I may have to move all data off that site and on to the ipower web one. Now Im just wondering what kind of server crash could last this long.... The funny thing is, each time their server crashes the journal is reset to 11/03 when I bought the socks at Walmart. maybe Walmart is behind all the server crashes. 11/11/03 Web page is available at 10pm. yay! Weather got warmer, but I still wore my hat and coat. I need to get into the habit or doing so. I should get out of the habit of ending sentences in prepositions.... hmm I thought "so" was one. but its not. I think in this case it's an adjective. The dictionary says that "so" is so overworked, its not funny. So much for the lame jokes, oh well. Alot of people go on diets at this time. I thought about it, but I'll just be fat all through the holidays. Much less stress that way.... 11/10/03 Still unable to update - journal or even access it. (Day 3) Cold again today. 10/31/03 Mowed the front lawn, finally. beautiful day to take off work. which I did. I forgot to buy Halloween candy. So when kids came knocking I gave them money. Most of the kids, well all of them told me the money was better than the candy. Quite a few wanted it in their hands not the bag. One kid was smart and asked for money for his brother who couldn't go. Only had about 10 kids show up. didnt cost me much. 10/30/03 Still have yet to use the furnace this season. house temp never drops below 70. 10/29/03 e.x.c.i.t.i.n.g. (i'll update more later...) took a half day vacation since I have so much. nice fall day. 10/28/03 I am updating this entry in the morning. not much has happened yet. I wont be home till late this evening. This will tide the thousands of readers who need to catch up on my exiting life. hmmm that word looks more like exit-ing... I suppose I should have used 'interesting' or 'banal' I wonder what today will bring me? At 2-5 they are no longer at the bottom of the standings. Next weeks opponent, The Dogs, (1-6) are. I keep getting phone calls from Denver Co. no message, probably just a telemarketer. 10/20/03 I like eggs. 10/19/03 Finally signed up for online banking. First thing I did was order more checks. I know that doesn't make sense. Very nice fall day. 10/18/03 For fun I decided to root against the Yankees since they win so much. They lost game one and my brother blames the loss on me. Good thing I spell checked that last line misspelled both words... Almost used "misspelt" but I dont think that's a word. 10/08/03 At work a vending machine was to be removed, due to lack of sales. The machine would not fit through the doors. The machine remains, powered off. The food sits inside, unable to be bought. Tonight is garbage night. Well actually it gets picked up sometime Thursday am. Some weeks I have so little trash, I don't bother rolling it to the curb. 10/07/03 Today I forgot to update the journal. Well, what I remember is I came close to setting off the smoke alarm burning a bagel. 10/06/03 I had 2 cupcakes for dinner, with m&m's on top. later I decided I needed to go food shopping. 10/05/03 Beautiful Day. It was so nice I was actually motivated to get my car washed. not enough to actually wash the car myself... I added a 2nd 40 gig hard drive to my second PC because the 1st drive is almost full. 09/30/03 I got nothing...sorry.... in lieu of actual content I'll rant about boring computer stuff. FTP has been very slow lately. takes almost a minute to upload the journal. ...should take 5 seconds. 09/29/03 I used my stove a 2nd night in a row. tonight was penne pasta. Cooler weather arrives. My fantasy football team, the argonauts, are on their way to a 0-4 record. or an 0-4 record, depending on how you read a 0 um..... or an 0 09/28/03 Quiet day. Did cleaning and general lazy day stuff. I actually used my stove to cook some pasta. 09/27/03 I used a hedge trimmer. I dont think I have ever used one of these before. I was helping with yard work for a lady who is too sick to do the work. (lyme disease) 09/26/03 Went to the corn maze. Got lost quite often. Followed a group that knew what they were doing to get out. I sure didn't. Called mom to wish her a happy birthday while I was lost in a corn maze. Happy Birthday Mom! 09/25/03 For those keeping score, yes I mowed my lawn. 09/24/03 Today I did update the journal On Sunday I am getting my lawn fertilized, aereated etc. That means I have to mow soon. 09/23/03 Once again I forgot to update the Journal. I started working on a project for Church, taking cassette messages and transfering them to CD. That's one reason I forgot. 09/22/03 Today is Monday. Today I update the 19th, 20th and 21st entries as quickly as possible - Knowing very well (or is it full well) that the memories are slowly oozing out of my brain. I think this Friday I am going to visit a Corn Maze at night. 09/21/03 This is Sunday. My excuse for not updating it is that I was taking it easy from all the hiking on Saturday. um yea thats the ticket. I did water the plants with plant food. 09/20/03 This is Saturday. I had a good excuse for not updating the journal, as I was at Linville Falls. Had a great time hiking. Also visited the Linville Cavern. 09/19/03 This is Friday. The first day that I forgot to update the journal. The first of three days that I did not update the journal. Shame on me. 09/18/03 Hurricane Isabell arrives. Just a few light showers in Charlotte. So I didn't have to water the plants. I did have to buy a 9 volt battery for one of the smoke alarms... 09/17/03 Bought cold medicine for the first time this year. That usualy makes the cold go away before I can use it. If the hurricane does not bring any rain, I will have to water the plants and trees for the first time all year. 09/16/03 I might be catching a cold. or a sinus infection. not sure yet. 09/15/03 Thumb is still a bit sore. (between I-49 and I-24/27 Albermarle road) I live about 2 miles from the Harrisburg road exit. I have only 1 word on this subject: "yay!" 09/02/03 Before going to work, I noticed; Left rear tire was down to 15 lbs Left front tire was at 25lbs. Took car in. Both had multiple nails. Had to replace both. 09/01/03 Perfect labor day. Just took it easy. yes, stuff happened that I could write about but, I think I'll save that for the book. or at least the made for TV movie. I am quite sure that I have not eaten a "frozen food dinner" all year :P

08/31/03 Visiting the folks. 08/30/03 Paid my property taxes online. Cleaned up the place, well started to. I have no idea why I wrote "yep" on the 28th. I think it had something to do with creating the "shortest journal update". Went to Providence Bistro and had Blackened Tilapia for dinner. very good. 08/29/03 my host provider for the house page, ipowerweb has been down a few times this week. So if the page does not display try again later. 08/28/03 yep. 08/27/03 Nail (well, a screw) was removed and the tire repaired. I'm lucky I did not have the flat today when the high temp was in the 90's 08/26/03 Car had a flat tire in the Wal-Mart parking lot, around 8:30pm Was able to pump it back up, jacked up using a bicycle pump. Will either get the nail removed or a new tire tomorrow. Thank you Suzanne. 08/25/03 I forgot to bring my wallet to work. Car was low on gas. Typical Monday Leftover Moose for dinner. Bills and chores have piled up. [workout #21] 185 08/15/03 While drivng back to Charlotte on I85, in nothern Georgia, 2 troopers and a service vehicle blocked traffic. They led us on a 25 mile per hour ride to the next exit. This was an alternative to blocking traffic at the next exit, where bridge construction was taking up both lanes. This slow procession lasted at least 30 or 40 minutes. I guess it was better than just sitting in traffic. 08/14/03 Had to drive all over Atlanta, and did not experience any delays... freaky. At my hotel, some people had used the luggage carrier to trasport their party stuff to and from the pool. I complemented them on their inventiveness. 08/13/02 Went to lunch with Daphne and Cynthia. A big thanks to Cynthia (C-lo) for taking me to dinner at Rio Bravo. Should be back in Charlotte Friday. 08/12/03 Hotel has internet so its easier to update the journal. The hotel Also has a view of I85 near the Sugarloaf exit. Traffic was backed up around 7:30 am Daphne Took me to lunch at Johnny Carabbas. Todays cesare salad was better than yesterdays. 08/11/03 Visiting Atlanta for a few days. The nice thing about Atlanta is that it make me appreciate how less congested Charlotte is. I don't have any plans to display the stats, I just occasionally look to see who visits. I cant really see who visits, just their PC's hostname. I can scare them away if I sit by the window. Then the small birds will visit, they dont mind me as long as I dont move too much. Cleaned the garage - what a mess. 08/08/03 Planned out trip to Atlanta sites next week. The Explorer that I drove to Bluffton had a bad thermostat. The mechanic said I was lucky i left the AC off. I also need to mow the lawn, and get my oil changed. 08/06/03 (RT I-77 returning from Bluffton SC) After a severe thunderstorm, traffic was very slow just north of Columbia SC. Southbound traffic was shut down, after an accident, a hellicopter was trying to find a place to land to transport people. 08/05/03 The hotel room was missing an alarm clock. I have a travel alarm, so it didn't matter. 08/04/03 Busy day. I Will be on the road again. updates will be sporadic. you can always email me. 08/03/03 For my birthday I was taken to Macaroni Grill. We had homemade cheesecake for desert. We also saw a movie at the mall. It's been a few years since I've actually had a birthday party. I had a great time. 08/02/03 Good to be back home, too busy to dump mulch... that sounds like a country song. 08/01/03 Driving back from Jacksonville on I95 in South Carolina, northbound traffic was backed up. There was no accident. People were slowing down to take a look at a southbound semi, that was hit by lightning. The hole in the truck was on the top and side. Probably 10 or 15 foot diameter, and you could easily see the cargo inside.

07/31/03 While staying at a Residence Inn, I went to make coffee on the second morning, but the coffee maker was not there. The maid had removed the coffee maker, that was there the previous day. (it had worked fine) In all my hotel stays over the years I have never seen this. 07/30/03 Just worked and watched TV in my hotel room. I rarely watch TV, so its a novelty. I watched some PBS special on Watergate. It was interesting because as a kid I remember when we only had 3 tv stations, and every station was Watergate. 07/29/03 In Jacksonville for a few days...(work) Couldnt use the pool tonight, because of t-storms. and because I forgot to bring a suit. 07/28/03 I will never drink milk, nor use cruise control. 07/27/03 Dumped 10 bags of cypress mulch in the back yard. Helped remove carpet at Suzanne's house. 4 days off seems like 2 weeks - Was a good vacation. Back to work tomorrow. 07/26/03 Dumped 20 bags of cypress mulch in the back yard. I switched to cypress mulch because the bags are lighter and I can put 10 in my small car. (6 in the trunk and 4 in the back seat) Went undefeated at Air Hockey at Jillians. 07/25/03 Dumped 6 bags of hardwood mulch and 10 bags of cypress mulch in my back yard. Hung out at the pool and once again watched the lifeguard with the fancy dives. Played "Sorry" and won a game. 07/18/03 I like food lion :P 07/17/03 Left my bedroom window open last night. A loud thunderstorm arrived at 3:30am. I think the shape of my backyard tends to amplify sounds. I need to remind myself to get my car washed. have yet to wash my car at home. Thought it would have been better if they shortened it from 2 hours to 90 minutes. Then again I think that about most movies. It was very good. 07/10/03 Finished up work at the Lake Mary office and headed for home around 4:30pm. I95 south of Jacksonville was so bumpy from construction it made the CD player skip. Stopped somewhere near Savannah GA. 07/09/03 Fell asleep in my hotel room last night watching Cheers. Woke up at 2am to turn it off. Some talk show was on and one of the guests was an actress from cheers. (Lilith i think) The episode I fell asleep to was about her. freaky. Tomorrow will finish up work in Palm Coast Fla and head to Lake Mary. 07/08/03 On the road for a few days. 07/07/03 Sometime on Sunday my car's odometer reached 88,888. I was extremely low on Kleenex, so I made a 9:30pm visit to Wal-mart. [workout #17] 182 07/06/03 I am back home, with tons of chores to do. I did about two thirds of the chores I had planned. 07/05/03 Played 9 holes of golf - and got 2 pars! After dinner was chillin at the pool with my homeys err.... went swimming with family. 07/04/03 I am visiting my parents this weekend. Their PC runs Windows 98 and notepad.exe cannot open the journal to edit it. So todays entry is brought to you by "wordpad.exe" I had a sore leg, from what I don't know. Took my first ibuprophen, maybe ever. It worked. Called cable company. they said my cable reburial is still scheduled. Lawn looks funny because I havent mowed where the cable is in 2 weeks. 06/14/03 Went to Lake Norman State Park with the Church singles group. This was originally scheduled in April but was rained out. This time there was no rain. (Believe it, or not) 06/13/03 Cable still isn't buried. Had to mow the lawn around it. The evening was very peaceful and quiet. (p&q) 06/12/03 Tried to get car inspected. DMV was down, so I couldn't get it done. I did get new spark plugs. Lightning hit a transformer and scared the mechanic because he thought it hit the garage. Finally got my hair cut. Bought a wallet at Walmart. Yesterday's recipe was missing chipped beef. I was told this is somewhere near the bologna at the store. I'll let everyone know if I ever make this. 06/11/03 Mix sour cream, powdered ranch dressing, and few table spoons of dill weed and dip rye bread into it Pumpernickle is good too. 06/10/03 Stopped in an Ekerd to look for a wallet. Couldn't find any. I bought mouthwash. 2 for 1 in big bottles. The checkout lady clipped a coupon and I got half off. Forgot to leave my AC on and when I got home at 10:20pm the house was 82°. Tomorrow will be warmer so I better leave it on for a while. 11:15 pm is a bit late to be cooking dinner. 06/09/03 House Refinanced. Building kept losing power as I was signing papers. Didn't find any more dead birds, but noticed some mosquitos in the garage. Chased one around with a can of raid. Emptied/dismantled the bird bath. The main birds that used it were the bluejays and doves. [workout #15] 181 06/08/03 Found a dead bluejay on my driveway. I used a shovel to put it in a bag and left it on the driveway. Contacted North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services web site. 06/07/03 Rain washed out golf. oh well. I wonder if "oh Well" is a sentence. Took a rare daytime nap. Maybe 30 min. Played board games with my niece Katie. She won most games without cheating this time. (i.e. no more 'stacked deck' in CandyLand) 06/06/03 Vacation! Yay! Lounged at the pool. Watched the lifeguard show off her fancy dives. (no one was in the pool at the time) 06/05/03 This was the first week at work where I brought my lunch each day. 06/04/03 I have been late the past few days, with daily updates. No one has mentioned this. That must mean they are either behind in reading... or just patient. Yes - believe it or not people do read this. 06/03/03 Stopped at a convenience store in Harrisburg on rt 49. Just needed some orange juice. Most of the aisles had beer. Way in the back I found a gallon of orange punch. 2 were in stock. Wasn't very good... 06/02/03 I am taking this friday off to visit family. First vacation day taken this year. Will play some golf. 05/31/03 Cable guy shows up and fixes the problem. The cable is too long for its type - RG6 he replaced it with RG11. The lawn will suffer, but my cable will be faster and TV reception sharper. Dumped 6 bags of pine bark mini nuggets on the hill, and 2-40lb bags of lime in the backyard. Strong storms with heavy rain and hail in the late afternoon. 05/30/03 Beautiful sunny Friday. Dentist appointment went well, no cavities. Quiet day. 05/29/03 House appraised for 117k - I think I paid 115k for it. forgot what my percentage will be, but I know its lower than the 7.8% is it now. [workout #14] 179 05/28/03 Called Road Runner to schedule a tech to look at the weak signal. This time its Saturday from 11 to 1. 05/27/03 Kept thinking today was Monday. 05/26/03 *Memorial Day* Planted the remaining junipers and dumped alot of mulch. Bought a barometer. Humidity in my house is 80% this evening. Bought a 17" monitor to replace the dead one. Its a flat screen CRT just like the 19", just cheaper and with 60$ of rebates. Finally got a UPS and a replacement 40g hd to replace the noisy one. 05/25/03 Saw the Matrix Reloaded. Good movie. I didnt bother trying to figure out the plot. Planted 2 junipers before it rained. 05/24/03 My niece Sabrina scored a 97% in reading and 93% in math on her FCAT tests. Congratulations! My old 17" monitor stopped working. It was 8 years old. Road Runner tech that was supposed to show up between 1 and 3 showed up at 5pm. I had already left for church. The cable signal is great today. maybe it just gets weak when it rains. Bought 4 junipers but was too lazy to plant them. 05/23/03 Went to a free concert after work -right across the street. Headliner was 3 Doors Down. Had to deal with a few crowd surfers. They shouldn't have been surfing due to all the young kids in the crowd. When a few got near me I let them down and some lady and her son yelled at them. I had a good time. Forgot to bring my camera... oops. The other two groups I saw were Cherry Bomb and Echo 7 05/22/03 Rain, lots of it. Localized flooding, (i.e. my backyard) I had my house appraised. The guy showed up an hour early. Cable connection was dropping. Has occasionally dropped over the past few weeks. A tech will show up between 1 and 3 Saturday to determine where the signal is dropping. I had let the birdfeeder get very low on food. For those keeping score, Tanya is still busy. 05/03/03 Today I 'purged' alot of stuff that I dont need. I have to do this because I usually clear off my kitchen table of paperwork by throwing it all in one drawer to sort later. When the drawer gets full, I purge it. Got my car washed and sort of waxed. By that I mean I picked the higher priced car wash at the gas station. I did a test and I can successfully take my home video and create my own DVD's. 05/02/03 A storm with high winds caused alot of damage to the festival called "A taste of Charlotte", held uptown on Tryon St. I couldn't go home my normal way because Robinson Church Road was closed. Couldn't see why, probably just a tree. Saw X-men part 1. I liked it. 05/01/03 When I went to get my oil changed. I had to wait longer than usual. They did a free tire rotation. 04/30/03 Everyone I know is real busy lately. 04/29/03 Still too busy to use/test my DVD player. The first chance I'll have to actually test out my DVD player would be Sunday. I've been too busy to wash/spring clean my car, so I just washed the windows. That's also a Sunday project. There is a package waiting for me at the post office. No idea who is sending it/or what it is.. I need to remind myself to get that on Thursday. 04/28/03 I was going to take some pictures of uptown Charlotte, but I forgot. Maybe tomorrow. here is one of me. [workout # 7] 180.5 04/27/03 Played golf for the first time in over a year. made 3 bogeys and lots of higher scores. Back yard is actually starting to look nice. Even the dogwood, which I have assumed to be dead, has 1 leaf growing. freaky. 04/11/03 The rain finally tapers offs. Sun makes a rare appearance in the afternoon. I'm writing this 7:30am Saturday morning. I should keep track of how many times I forget to update the journal. I had a great time. At the end of the dating you secretly put a yes or a no for each of the dates on a piece of paper and hand it in. The service will contact me If any of the women I said yes to also did. Not sure how long that takes. I circled yes for 4 of the 8. I had alof of fun tonight. 03/31/03 Joined a Peak Fitness gym in Harrisburg. Worked out for 1 hour tonight. I know I'll be sore tomorrow. Tanya says I should note in the journal each time I go to the gym. I probably wont have time till Thursday. [workout #1 ] 03/30/03 Cold rainy day. Snowed a bit in the morning. 03/29/03 Mountains sometimes do make people look tall :P 03/28/03 Moved the house page to the new site. reduced my disk allotment on road runner from 19 meg to 7. Technically that should save me 12$ a month on my road runner bill. (1$ a meg/month) The new site has 500 meg and is 8$ a month. I never checked to see if RR ever billed me for the extra space I was using. will have to wait till the next bill.... 03/27/03 Dumped weed and feed, and lime on the lawn. Planted a small tree. Cant find the tag for it. so untill I find it I dont know what it is.... 03/26/03 Busy day. didnt update till the 27th. The lady looked at the 3 remaining steaks and decided that none of them were cooked enough. Then she held one up to the chef and asked him. I quickly changed my order to Roast Beef. While eating lunch I talked to Dean about the potentially undercooked steak. I didnt realize that at the table next to us, someone was just finishing up a plate and had heard everything. Hope he's OK... 03/10/03 I am converting old home movies to digital format using the digital video camera. The camera does not record anything. It just acts as a converter. Here are the steps: Remove the tape from the digital camera (not needed) Change the camera mode to av-dv with the remote STV-250N cable from VCR to camera's AV plug DV cable from camera's DV plug into PC's firewire. Capture the video with Pinnacle Studio SE. 03/09/03 Bought a digital video camera today. Yes, I did have fun this weekend. 03/08/03 My niece Katie is 6. She told me she couldn't play basketball because its too high (Regulation 10' height) after hitting the rim twice, she made 3 in a row. These were shots from around 12' back... (one off the backboard, and 2 'nuttin but net') My shots didnt fare as well. 03/07/03 Tonight was a typical Friday evening. I was in my computer room, two PC's and a TV set on, playing my guitar and chatting with Tanya on IRC. Then the power went out. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just played my guitar till the power went back on a minute later. I have put off buying a UPS for too long. 02/28/03 Went to Cramerton to watch my nephew David play basketball. The game before his ended after a few fights broke out in the stands (rowdy parents). David's game was interrupted when a small kid ran onto the court and wanted to play. David made 2 crucial free throws to tie the game with 40 seconds left. His team won 46-44. 02/27/03 Attended the Turtle Rock Home Owners Association Annual Meeting. Bad weather produced a low turnout. I will be helping out with the web site. 02/26/03 Janice is doing fine. Her surgery went well. She should be able to go home on Friday. Tom wants to thank everyone for their prayers and support. 02/25/03 My prayers tonight are for my sister-in-law Janice. Tomorrow she has surgery at 2:30pm. 02/24/03 Set a lunch date with two women for this Friday. 02/23/03 Bought new shoes today. Looked at getting a large TV for the living room. Didn't get one. It sure is fun to look.... 02/22/03 Heavy thunderstorms today. Experimented using the 100' garden hose to drain the backyard into the driveway. It does drain the water, but not fast enough. 02/21/03 Bought forgotten groceries. After buying gas, got the cheapo 3$ car wash. Car was still dirty afterwards. Maybe if it's warm enough this weekend I'll wash it myself....maybe. 02/20/03 Went shopping! Forgot Light bulbs, Margarine --- While at the checkout counter the cashier and bag boy were discussing who she (The cashier) looks more like; "Courtney" or "Christina" She claims she looks more like Courtney, he says Christina. As I left with my groceries, I said "See ya later Courtney"! 02/19/03 I ran out of laundry detergent, and tomorrow is laundry day!!! I am low on light bulbs. One of my floor lamps needs to be replaced. Bulbs do not last long in that lamp. 02/18/03 This evening I received an email from a Simone Nencetti, from Florence (Firenze) Italy. The email was in Italian. I used google to translate. Hopefully that will let us communicate. 02/17/03 Fortunately only 1/4" of sleet fell. The roads were not that bad. Nice weather for the rest of the week. 02/16/03 This morning I made a 2nd cup of coffee and put it in the fridge. If the ice storm cuts power I'll have coffee for Monday morning. 02/15/03 Wanted to plant stuff today. With the impending ice storm, I figured I would wait till next week. I saw an minor accident in the parking lot at Food Lion. One minivan pushed a parked minivan backwards. (head to head bump) Nothing serious - probably pushed the van backwards 1 foot. The van's tail lights went on, as if it was backing up, even though the car was off and no one was in it. (new feature?) I waited to see what the offending driver would do. She never left her car, just kept talking on her cell phone. The person behind me in the checkout line was the owner of the hit van. She was unaware her van was hit and drove away. I didn't get involved because both were new vans and their plastic bumpers didn’t seem to suffer any damage. As I left the cell phone lady still had not left her van.... 01/15/03 Once a week a copy of The Mint Hill Post arrives on my driveway. Usually I toss it - Since it arrives on garbage night, - and I don't live in Mint Hill.... Apparently our community must be paying for this paper, because I'm not. 01/14/03 Last week our community was given the opportunity to have our water tested. In addition to submitting a water sample (and attaching it to the mailbox) I had to fill out a questionnaire. Now the water people are calling me a few times a day, but they don’t leave a message. 01/13/03 Cold weather this week..well, Carolina cold. (I'm from upstate NY.) Whenever people ask me what I think about a recent cold spell I tell them, "This isn’t cold weather." 01/12/03 Added 7 more plants to the backyard. Removed 4 dead plants. Have not done well with gardenias. Only 1 of 4 that I have planted in the past 2 years remains. 01/11/03 I was going to wait for spring to do any gardening work. Then I realized that plants don’t care when they get planted. 01/10/03 no bills, no voicemail, no email, nothing happened today. one of those days that almost didn’t exist. 01/09/03 Time Warner Cable credited me $6.25 for the 2 days the power was out and I didn’t have cable TV or Road Runner. 01/08/03 My car's odometer reached 80,000 01/07/03 My cell phone's battery had very little charge, even though I had it plugged into the charger all night. I thought that since I never turn off the cell phone I had burned out the battery. This evening I figured out what happened. The outlet I used is controlled by the light switch to the room. I charge the cell phone elsewhere now. 01/06/03 Today I got a haircut. The evening was cold and windy. Not sure if the two events were related... 01/02/03 I paid some bills tonight. 12/22-12/29/02 Christmas Vacation in Florida! Updates on the news page. 12/20/02 Driving home from work, at a stoplight on Plaza and Sugar Creek, two police cars had a vehicle pulled over in a gas station parking lot. I saw 3 cops who were near the vehicle walk backwards slowly to their cars, anticipating gunfire. They were using the police car door as a shield. The light turned green and I drove away. 12/19/02 My older PC has spent the last 13 months doing research for The cancer project at United Devices. Today the CPU time devoted to the project reached 365 days. (in other words, PC processors basically idle) 12/17/02 I leave for work before sunrise, and come home after sunset. 12/16/02 I finally started my Christmas shopping and put up my tree. It is the same tree as last year 12/14/02 No, I have not started Christmas shopping yet..... 12/08/02 Bought a 19" flat screen monitor. 12/07/02 My trees are OK. On a sad note, my 14" monitor passed away. 01/97 - 12/02 12/06/02 A few hours after my entry on 12/4 the power went out. Power came back sometime today. I was prepared with flashlights, batteries, etc. The fireplace did a great job of heating the house. Driving home from work, I noticed quite a few people in their cars, because their houses have no heat. Tonight's low should be 22° 12/05/02 Charlotte has it's biggest ice storm on record. 12/04/02 The snow/sleet storm started around 2pm, and turned to ice around 6pm. 11/30/02 I fertilized the dogwood and cypress trees and a few plants with soil acidifying plant food. The rest of the plants that I wasn’t sure about got miracle grow. The weather this weekend was nicer than I thought it would be. 11/24/02 The cough from the cold decided to hang around another week. Now it is finally going away... I think. Today was one of those perfect weather fall days. I don’t think the Thanksgiving holiday will be as nice. 11/21/02 Today I took the trundle bed out of the garage, (it got soaked in the rain last week) and set it up. Dean told me I should take a pic of it. Dean also said I should reverse the order of pics for the house page. I think Dean should create his own web site. 11/19/02 My web page has close to 400 files in the root directory. I guess it is time to start organizing it with a few more subdirectories. 11/16/02 Today I got a free used trundle bed for the spare bedroom. I never knew what a trundle was until now. I bought a used microwave to replace the one I bought in 1985. Cold finally went away. 11/14/02 Today we set another record low 34° This week I have my first cold in a long time. I never keep cold medicine at home because it always expires before I need it. 11/12/02 Another storm front dumps heavy rains in the morning. 11/11/02 Before I left for work, the sky was so orange it made everything look orange. This was about 10 minutes before a storm front hit, so I decided to leave for work rather than take pics. This is the same front that spawned tornadoes in other states killing over 35. 11/08/02 This morning its only 35° Normal High: 66° Normal Low: 44° 11/06/02 No cavities! 11/05/02 I voted. Voting is easy for me, since I'm the only Nencetti in Mecklenburg county. 11/03/02 I trimmed the lower limbs on the 3 maples trees. Thanks to my mother and brother for pointing out proper tree maintenance. 11/01/02 This was the first evening I needed to use the furnace.

10/31/02 One nice thing about living in a new house, is that there are no ghosts... yet. 10/30/02 Wednesday's I leave work at 6pm and go to church, which starts at 7pm. Mecklenburg Community Church is in north Charlotte, near where I used to live. I moved away from that area because the traffic was so bad. (It's gotten worse) Tonight was no exception. After an hour of driving, I was no where near the church. I turned around and went home. (I think its 11 miles) 10/29/02 Mandatory water restrictions are being lifted this week. 10/28/02 Today I start my holiday diet. Too bad I don’t have a scale. I once bought a scale from Kmart for 4$. It wasn’t very good. It said I was 210, when I was only 185. 10/24/02 While driving back from Atlanta on I85, I saw the aftermath of an accident outside of Greenville, SC. Three lanes of southbound traffic were backed up 6 miles. On the radio they mentioned a helicopter was airlifting the injured to the hospital. Traffic was heavy because it was evening rush hour, and there was a Clemson football game. I didn’t have any delays. Clemson lost. 10/17/02 Today I got an oil change, (Well my car did) and had my brakes looked at. When I asked if I needed new brakes, the mechanic said, "no you needed new brakes last week." Fortunately they also replace brakes. 10/16/02 Overnight tons of rain fell. Tonight I was in a store called 'On the Run' buying Sunny D. One of the clerks was talking to a trucker who just put his tanker gas into the station. She asked if he was the same guy who put gas in the other day, and didnt close the cover properly, letting the heavy rainfall get into their gas tanks. I had just filled up. Hope my car runs ok.... 10/15/02 Today I got a haircut. 10/13/02 Rain, lots of it. My niece Katie is a good 'Go Fish' card player. She beat me 2 out of 3 times. 10/10/02 Will be getting a quote for someone to work on my lawn. The back yard is mostly crabgrass, and the front yard is too rocky to do much with. I had considered doing all this myself, but then I realized that im too lazy. 10/08/02 Not much going on. 10/01/02 This evening I saw 7 vehicles parked in the fire lane at the Food Lion, one was double parked in front of the Papa Johns. Most were SUV's.

09/26/02 Today I visited Time Warner Cable and got a brand new cable modem. The old modem was probably 2 1/2 years old. It was giving me trouble. 09/24/02 I went to a chic-fil-a at the overstreet mall in uptown Charlotte After waiting in line 5 minutes, the lady closed the register. That meant going to the back of another line that has at least 8 or 10 people. I went to Sbarro for pizza in stead. 09/21/02 The neighborhood black cat rarely gets near my property. Today I saw it near the birdfeeder. Perhaps it was planning an ambush. 09/19/02 I helped hook up a home entertainment center, no not mine. Later I mowed my front and back yards. I cut the back yard at a lower than normal level so I could find all the anthills. I guess September is ant season. 09/16/02 Today I learned that you cannot cook rice like pasta. ....Seven minutes is not long enough, at least not for Uncle Ben's 09/15/02 I went shopping at Walmart. I bought a belt, and then went to look at lamps. I think one of the employees was laughing at me. I suppose it is kinda odd, a person shopping for lamps, with a belt in their hand. I didnt buy a lamp, just more bulbs for a very old one. 09/13/02 Tonight I ran the journal and news pages through a spell checker. Not sure what amazed me more, how many misspellings there were, or the fact that nobody ever mentions them to me. 09/11/02 My thoughts today are for my sister Sandra, who worked at the WTC. These past 12 months have been very difficult for her. 09/07/02 My parents have a faster PC than I do! 09/06/02 Tonight my real one player expired. I had to upgrade and reboot before I could play real audio files again. Why a media player program would require the reboot of an OS (Windows 2000) is beyond me. I didnt reboot and real one player works fine... With the new real one player comes a new spyware program... that I deleted. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realevent.exe 09/04/02 a few days ago I went on the blind date. The lady had asked me during the date what air freshener I used for my car. I jokingly said "Windex" because I had used it to clean the car earlier in the day. Tonight I realized what had happened, The bottle was still in the back seat and had leaked all over the rug. 09/03/02 My Mecklenburg County Voter Card came in the mail today. I registered to vote when I renewed my drivers license. The card lists my party as "UNA" (for unaffiliated, i guess.) I suppose I should read the paper one of these days to see who I should vote for. 09/02/02 Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights Sprint has left me voicemail on my Cingular cell phone. It is an automated message asking me to call them. ...At least its not Claire.

08/31/02 Rain, heavy at times, all day. I dug a path between the cypress trees to help drain water from the backyard. 08/29/02 Upgraded Winamp to version 3 on one of my PC's (Winamp is an alternative to windows media player and Real Audio) The visuals are great. A trip to their web site's forums made me think I should of waited. Looks to be buggy. my other PC will stay on ver 2.8 08/28/02 The only translation I ever had about my last name was "Man from Lawrencia" here is a better one Thanks to Luca Nencetti The name Nenci was derived from Nencio, a diminutive of the first name Lorenzo (like Lawrence) very common in Florence in 1200 - 1400, and still is. From the root Nenci (we are talking about 8-900 years ago probably) a few other names originated like Nencini (sounds like small Nenci), Nencioni (big Nenci), Nencetti (sounds like medium Nenci), Nenciarini and may be a few more. 08/19/02 me and my camera or is it, "My camera and I" 08/17/02 I water ski'ed for the first time in over 10 years. 08/15/02 Today I attempted to terminate my cell phone with Sprint. If you call SprintPCS, a virtual assistant named Claire answers. You cannot use touchtone menus, everything is voice activated. I was unable to reach a human being. I was disconnected frequently. Then again I am telling the virtual assistant words like 'termination' and 'disconnect' Emailing customer service results in an automated response to call their virtual assistant.... I called pretending I had a different problem, and was still disconnected. Searching the web site I found a phone number for ordering a new phone. they were able to forward me to human being who could terminate the acct. (FYI during the human calls, I never once mentioned Sprint's insane virtual assistant.) 08/11/02 Soon I will retire my 3 year old cell phone (Quallcomm/Sprint). I'm switching to a nationwide plan with no roaming charges. (Nokia/Cingular) Only time will tell if the new phone/phone plan delivers. 08/04/02 Here are 2 pictures from my vacation at Garden City Beach, SC.
