I Need Samoa Love – Coconut Porter

Brewed January 31st 2021 – High Sierra Porter clone.

Hops – Nugget bittering, Willamette aromatic.

Black Patent, Chocolate and Crystal malts

White labs liquid yeast

Will add 14oz of coconut flakes to secondary for 5 days, before kegging.

Jo was thinking of adding cocoa nibs to the boil. But we had trouble find them in the store.

2/27/2021 The porter is excellent. Like a liquid mounds bar or Samoa cookie.

1/31/2021 Beer was very active, by the 13th it stopped.
2/13/2021 getting ready to transfer to secondary and add coconut.
2/13/2021 gravity reading of 1.017 Yeast has done its job.
Jo toasted 14oz of coconut
We will leave these in for a few days, and then keg.
Our Coconut Porter next to our DIPA Twisted Degenerate.
We unhooked the gas to the IPA, and set the PSI to 20 for 4 days to speed up carbonation.
We will be bottling a few for friends to sample.
