Elder Beer

Northern Brewer 1 gallon kit. Zombie Dirt – Pale Ale

Gold liquid malt extract, Citra Hops, Bru Yeast small batch English Ale Dry Yeast

Northern Brewer Fizz Drops, carbonation tabs

Jo added elderberries from her garden near the end of the boil.

Brewed 8-26-2020 – A lot of work for 1 gallon. We still have two more 1 gallon kits to brew. But that will be it. We will stick to 5 gallon batches.

8-30-2020 still no activity in the airlock. Jo added 1 teaspoon Bry-97 West Coast Ale Yeast. We had leftover from our Brewers Best “Tiny IPA”

8-31-2020 We have activity in the airlock.

Bottled Sept 9th. we only had 7 bottles. So with this procedure, too much water boiled away and we did not add enough back.

9-24-2020 tested 1 bottle. very little carbonation. Just a small noise when opening.

10-5-2020 tested bottle 2 of 7. Light carbonation, taste is bitter/tart, appearance very dark and cloudy. We like it.

Gravity readings? Since we made so little beer, we did not want to waste any testing. This is our first zero gravity beer.

Next time we will add water to reach 1 gallon. This is a Northern Brewer Little Big Mouth Siphon less Glass Fermenter.
Jo’s elderberries, and one of the many Citra hops packers we used.
Bottle 2 of 7. Oct 5th 2020
