BELMONT - The first time South Point's offense touched the ball, freshman wingback Brandon Spencer torched Lincolnton on a 37-yard run.

It turned out to be a harbinger of things to come, as the Raiders racked up 458 yards of offense en route to a 41-7 win against the Wolves on Friday night.

Spencer led all rushers with 130 yards on just six carries, including a 60-yard fourth-quarter scoring burst. Fullback Bryan Jennings found the end zone four times, and quarterback Andrew Rinehart added a 60-yard touchdown pass to David McMillan as well.

Not bad for an offense that lost 10 offensive starters.

For the second straight week, South Point responded to a less-than-stellar first half performance with a dominating one in the second half. Lincolnton was able to eat up over eight minutes of the second quarter during a 16-play, 76-yard scoring drive that ended with Dusty Friday's 5-yard touchdown run that cut the Raiders' lead to 14-7 just before halftime. South Point limited the Wolves to 86 yardsthe remainder of the game.

"We didn't do anything particularly different," after halftime, said Raiders coach John Devine. "We just concentrated on the fundamentals. It all boils down to blocking and tackling."

While Lincolnton's offense struggled, South Point's got stronger. None of the Raiders' four second-half scoring drives lasted longer than four plays. The Rinehart-to-McMillan pass play came on third-and-11, as McMillan streaked past Wolves defender Jeremy Smith and caught Rinehart's toss in stride down the home sideline.

"That was a pretty big play," said Devine. "It stretched our lead out and gave us a little breathing room."

Jennings added his second touchdown of the game a little more than two minutes later on a 25-yard run straight up the middle of the field.
