Miss MurphyBorn August 1996 (approximately) Type: Buff color Cocker Spaniel Eyes: Brown Weight: 23 pounds Location: Woodburn, OR Owners: Kathy and Stan Miss Murphy is a rescue pet. She has been with us since September 2003. Her previous owners kept her outdoors but she is a total indoor dog now. Why do people adopt animals and then not treat them like family? (Or maybe they do.) She was listed on Petfinders.com as being 10 years old but after adopting her, we discovered that she was more like seven. She has a sweet disposition and her worst trait is getting into the garbage, therefore, it is not kept under the sink where she knows how to open the cabinet doors, but instead is safely stored in the utility room. She teaches us each day what she needs. She enjoys sleeping in with her mom, Kathy, but will also nap with dad, Stan. Her favorite toy is a soft dog. Her grandmother had to mend it because she had torn out the right eye and enjoyed pulling out all the stuffing. She is on a special diet (potato/duck formula) as she seems to have allergies. She scratches - a lot! But she is a happy dog most of the time and we are very happy to have her. Miss Murphy, I am sad to say, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2005. She was nearly nine years old and suddenly developed acute leukemia. When her blood transfusion didn’t work, we opted to allow her to die unless she seemed to be in pain. We had made an appointment to have her given a shot to put her to sleep permanently and 40 minutes before the appointment, she finally died in my husband’s arms. |
